The 3-month Essential DJ Skills course at Point Blank will teach you the most important modern DJ skills you’ll need to begin your career. You’ll cover techniques such as cueing, drop mixing, analog and digital DJing, beatmatching, EQ, back-to-back mixing, Rekordbox, and more. This college-level course is taught by leading DJs such as DJ Morse Code (voted “Best DJ in America” by the Sun Times) and Dela Moon (Moontribe Crew, Electric Daisy Carnival, and more). If you’re looking to get a first-class introduction to DJing, this course is for you.
This course offers flexible daytime, evening, and weekend class scheduling options.
This course is provided at our brand-new campus in LA's Miracle Mile neighborhood. You will be learning on the latest industry tech including Ableton Live, Push, Logic Pro, NI Komplete, and Pioneer DJ gear such as the CDJ-3000, DJM-V10, CDJ-2000NXS, XDJ-XZ, RMX-1000, and more. All students enrolling in this course are entitled to receive a copy of Pioneer DJ Rekordbox 6 worth $149. You’ll also attend exclusive masterclasses from the likes of Mark de Clive-Lowe, Laura Escude (Jay Z, Kanye West), Daddy Kev (Low End Theory), and Jimmy Mac (Lorde). Nathaniel Morse was the winner of Redbull's first United States "3style" DJ battle in LA. He was awarded “Best DJ in LA” and then “Best DJ in America” by the Sun Times in 2014 & 2015 respectively.
An organizer of the Moontribe Collective, dela Moon’s full-bodied drum & bass and halftime is a signature of the LA underground. She's played EDC, Boom, Rainbow Serpent, and is a DJ Mag “Emerging Artist You Need To Hear.”
An Ableton Certified Trainer and Pioneer DJ Battle Championship winner, Mikhail Arce-Ignacio (Mecha) is a versatile producer, engineer, music director, DJ and live electronic performer.
Resident DJ at Studio Paris (Chicago), played alongside Snoop Dogg, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kaskade, Afrojack, A-Trak, and Nas. Mixes on air Saturday nights for 103.5 KISS FM on iHeartRadio.
DJ ShanLynn is a DJ, VJ, and producer who mixes old school, pop, hip-hop, nu-disco, electronica, remixes, and mash-ups in her open-format sets. Her clients include Macy’s, ABC, Aveda, UMG, Forever 21, Loreal, Mercedes Benz, etc.
DJ Markman incorporates classic 90s House with futuristic R&B, UK Garage & Bassline. Ableton Certified, his live sets pay homage to the energy that made his heroes sets, artists like Adamski, Orbital and the Chems, so compelling.

Kamel aka Dead-Tones is Guy Gerber’s protege, personal assistant and tour manager. Over Summer he is based in Ibiza as Rumours' main resident, and has releases on labels including Kindisch, Motek, Dialtones Records.
Co-founder of 'A Club Called Rhonda', has organized parties in LA & beyond for the past 8 years. Known for its stylish crowd and underground vibe, Rhonda hosts up-and-coming DJs and artists alike.
None at all! Every Point Blank student has access to their own fully-equipped workstation in class and during their practical studio work outside of class time. If you decide to purchase equipment for your own home studio, we will be happy to help you arrange student discounts from our leading industry partners including Apple, Ableton, Pioneer, Native Instruments, Serato, Izotope, Waves, and more.
For each 10-week course within in this program, class meets once per week for 4 hours (with a 15-minute break included) at one of the following session times:
10:00am – 2:00pm (Morning Session)
2:30pm – 6:30pm (Afternoon Session)
7:00pm – 11:00pm (Evening Session)
Some programs contain up to 4 courses per quarter, so check the "Key Info" section on each program page to see how many classes you'll be attending each week. Classes are scheduled before the start of each quarter; call (323) 594-8740 for the most up-to-date information on scheduling and class availability. Our facilities are also open for student use six to seven days a week (depending on the quarterly course schedule), giving you valuable studio time to make your music and reinforce your new skills outside of class sessions.

Yes. Classes are usually available in the evening and on weekends, and we will be happy to arrange a class schedule that works around your other professional commitments. International students have different options for attending Point Blank classes depending on their country of origin. These include the B2 visitor visa, the ESTA visa waiver program, and more. We do not offer F or M student visas at this time.
