Did you know?
In the 2018 NBA Draft, 3 players were drafted from PUBLIC schools in Pennsylvania.
Obviously, we all know about Lonnie Walker, our local hero. His situation with the San Antonio Spurs should turn out to be a blessing!
There was Mikal Bridges, who attended Great Valley. His career was the epitome of “earned, not entitled”. He was redshirted, sat the bench, played a 6th man role and eventually won multiple National Championships with the Villanova Wildcats.
Those are the two you may know, but Alize Johnson, a second round pick of the Indiana Pacers was a former standout at Williamsport High School.
In an age where transferring and private schools is the norm, these 3 guys simply did it the way it was supposed to be done.
On top of these 3 public school players, Mo Bamba, a Westtown Alumni was also drafted in the lottery.
This makes 4 PA players in this year’s NBA Draft. Pretty impressive and great for the state of PA!
