The amount of money you can earn over the course of a songwriter career can vary considerably. Paul McCartney is almost a Billionaire. Max Martin is worth quarter of a billion. My mate Dave wrote a song about geese and has never made a penny. There are extremes in both directions. However, there is a flourishing middle class in the music industry where you can carve out a successful career as a songwriter. I can think of at least half a dozen colleagues of mine who make around £50k a year through a combination of commissions and royalties from songwriting, topped up by a bit of performing, arranging, or teaching. It is not an unrealistic dream to think you could achieve the same, but it is a competitive industry, which is why it’s important that you know your craft, have a unique voice, and know the right people. Point Blank can help with all three of these things. On the BA Songwriting Degree, you’ll have three years of lessons to introduce to dozens of topics in detail, both in group classes and 1:1 sessions. You’ll have the opportunity to develop a portfolio and share it with your peers for feedback, as well as receiving expert feedback from our industry professional tutors. You’ll be learning side by side with people just as passionate and creative as you, and together, you can be the future of the music industry.
