How much does it cost to become a music producer in 2024?

To get started, it's essentially the cost of a laptop, your production software of choice (such as Logic Pro or Ableton Live), a good set of headphones, and training. As well as these fundamentals, other important equipment can include:

  1. A MIDI keyboard
  2. An audio interface
  3. A Launchpad/ drum machine
  4. Speakers
  5. Third-party plugins
  6. Hardware synthesisers

The basic setup of a laptop, software, and headphones can be purchased for under £1000 (all depending on make and model of course). Then, as you progress throughout your music production journey, you may find that you want to add more items, such as speakers or even hardware synths. The total spend on equipment can easily reach into the thousands, but as a professional you would be investing in yourself and your career. By studying a course at Point Blank you will have access to a wide range of offers and discounts from studio time to the latest software and hardware with our partners including Ableton, Focusrite, Native Instruments and much more! Check them out on our blog here.
